    Cosmetic Dentistry

The appearance of your smile can have a profound effect on self-esteem. As we age, we may become self-conscious about the loss of our smile’s white, bright shine from lifestyle choices such as coffee drinking or smoking, or the general wear and tear that can take place over time. Using teeth as tools, nail biting, or grinding or clenching teeth while sleeping can also cause damage to the teeth over the years. Accidents can also occur that cause chips, fractures, or cracks. No matter the cause of the damage or discoloration, there are many effective treatments dentists can perform to help you brighten, reshape, or repair your teeth for that flawless smile you’ve always wanted. The team at Balaci Dental Group in Annville, PA, is proud to offer many cosmetic dental solutions to give you a confident smile for years to come.

    Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain veneers are ultra-thin shells made of tooth-colored porcelain that can be bonded to your teeth to refresh your smile completely. Veneers are a versatile cosmetic option because they can address a host of aesthetic problems, including chipped, cracked, or misshapen teeth, and can even address spacing issues between teeth. Veneers even mimic the light-reflecting properties of your natural teeth. They tend to work best for people with stains and wear, and/or minor spacing issues and damage to the teeth. Teeth with more severe damage may benefit from other techniques that we offer, such as dental crowns.

You may be a candidate for veneers if you have

    • Severe stains and discoloration
    • Cracked or fractured teeth
    • Chipped teeth
    • Large gaps between your teeth
    • Mild to moderate spacing issues
    • Mild to moderate crooked teeth
    • Overlapping teeth
    • Teeth that are worn down

When you visit Balaci Dental Group for an initial consultation, we will perform a complete analysis of your smile and determine if veneers are the best treatment for achieving your desired look. Often, we will complete a full mock-up of the new smile to ensure that it is in line with your treatment goals. Next, your dentist will customize the veneers to fit seamlessly in your mouth in terms of size, shape, and color. In some circumstances, a small amount of tooth material must be removed to provide a perfect fit for the veneers in your mouth. Other times, veneers can be placed directly onto the tooth’s surface. The approach taken by our team will be dependent on your smile goals. One tooth or many teeth can undergo the veneering process at the same time, and the entire process can be completed in about three dental appointments: one for the consultation appointment and two to create and apply the veneers. By the end of your treatment, you will have a new smile that meets or even exceeds your expectations.

    Cosmetic Dental Bonding

Dental bonding is a routine treatment provided to restore chipped, fractured, or cracked teeth. The bond is created by a tooth-colored composite resin, which can be shaped and polished to appear as natural as your surrounding teeth. Many patients prefer bonding to other cosmetic treatments because it is quick, convenient, and low cost. Bonding requires little prep time and can usually be completed in a single visit to our practice.

Dental bonding can be placed on the surface of your teeth to cover cracks or minor discoloration effectively and to repair chipped and broken teeth if the damage is not too severe. However, there are a few limitations to bonding compared to veneers: bonding is not the best option for severely discolored teeth, and the material used is not quite as strong and long-lasting as the porcelain used in veneers.

Dental bonding may be the perfect solution for you if you have

    • Minor discoloration/staining
    • Chips/cracks
    • Misshapen teeth
    • Gaps and irregular spacing
    • Exposed roots due to gum recession

If you are considering cosmetic dental bonding, the first step in treatment is to schedule an initial consultation with one of our experienced dentists. Your restorative dentist will select the composite shade which most closely matches the color of your natural teeth. Next, the resin is applied, molded, and smoothed to create the proper shape to match your surrounding teeth. Once hardened, the resin is shaped and polished to blend seamlessly with your tooth. The result is a natural-looking restoration that is quick, easy, and can offer an excellent and even dramatic cosmetic result for many years.

    Zoom!® Whitening

One of the most common concerns that we hear from patients is that they wish they had whiter teeth. At Balaci Dental Group, we offer the Zoom tooth whitening procedure — a fast, safe, and highly effective way to brighten your smile in the dental office in a single visit. Unlike whitening strips or toothpastes purchased in stores that can take weeks or months of use to show an effect, this method of whitening utilizes a combination of hydrogen peroxide whitening gel and an innovative LED light to penetrate the teeth and accelerate the bleaching process so that you can achieve a visibly brighter smile in under an hour. This proven whitening process maintains the healthy structure of your teeth during treatment despite being incredibly powerful and effective.

For your Zoom Whitening treatment in our office, we will perform an initial oral exam and take impressions for your custom whitening trays. Following this, the whitening gel and light are applied in three 15-minute sessions, for a total treatment time of 45 minutes! After your treatment, you will be given a Zoom home-use touch-up kit that includes custom-fitted whitening trays. Your dentist will provide you with detailed instructions for when and how to use your touch-up kit.
